My husband was given a used mattress from a relative and almost used it but we discovered it was a much better idea to purchase a new crib mattress as the one we were given wasn’t a perfect fit for our baby’s crib. We were also concerned about some minor tears in the mattress. In the end we bought an organic mattress because we wanted the best for our baby and she’ll be sleeping on it for years.
